Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 30, 2026

Your trust matters to us. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use Zen Parenting World, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

  • Account data: name, email address, and profile information you provide.
  • Subscriber data: email address and confirmation status when you sign up to the newsletter.
  • Content you post: comments, forum topics, and replies.
  • Usage data: anonymous page views, referrer, and basic device information for analytics.
  • Email engagement: delivery, bounce, and unsubscribe events for emails we send you.

2. How we use your information

  • To operate the platform — your account, comments, and forum activity.
  • To send transactional emails (account, confirmation, replies, moderation).
  • To send newsletters when you have subscribed and confirmed your email.
  • To analyze how the site is used so we can improve content and performance.
  • To prevent spam, abuse, and security incidents.

3. Legal bases (GDPR)

We process your personal data based on your consent (e.g. newsletter subscription), to perform a contract with you (e.g. providing your account), and to pursue our legitimate interests (e.g. security, basic analytics).

4. Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with trusted service providers who help us run the platform — for example, our hosting, database, and email delivery providers. They are bound to handle your data securely and only on our instructions.

5. Cookies, analytics & GA4 consent

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand which articles help parents most and to improve the site. GA4 is provided by Google Ireland Ltd (for visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland) and Google LLC (elsewhere), and may transfer data to the United States under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses.

What GA4 collects when you consent

  • Pages you visit, time on page, and scroll depth.
  • Referring site or search engine that brought you here.
  • Approximate location (country / region only — your IP is anonymised before storage).
  • Device type, browser, operating system, and screen size.
  • A randomly-generated GA client ID stored in a first-party cookie (typically _ga, _ga_*) for up to 24 months, used to recognise return visits.
  • Custom events such as which articles you open and how far you read them.

GA4 does not receive your name, email address, account ID, comments, or any content you post. We have disabled Google Signals, ad personalisation, and the sharing of analytics data with Google advertising products.

Consent Mode v2 — your choice comes first

On your first visit we display a cookie banner and GA4 loads in deniedstate under Google Consent Mode v2. This means:

  • Before you click "Accept": no GA cookies are written, no IDs are stored, and no events are sent. Google may receive an anonymous, cookieless "ping" used only for aggregated modelling — it cannot identify you.
  • If you click "Accept": GA4 begins setting the cookies above and recording events as described.
  • If you click "Decline": GA stays in denied state for the lifetime of your choice. We persist your decision in your browser's localStorage (key zpw_cookie_consent) so the banner doesn't reappear.

Other first-party storage

Independently of GA4, we use a small amount of strictly-necessary first-party storage to operate the site (e.g. an authentication session cookie if you sign in, and an anonymous session identifier used to deduplicate page-view counts). These are not used for advertising and are exempt from consent under the ePrivacy Directive.

Changing or withdrawing consent

You can change your decision at any time by clearing the zpw_cookie_consent entry from your browser's site storage — the banner will reappear on the next page load. You can also block analytics entirely using your browser's "Do Not Track" or tracking-protection settings, or by installing the official Google Analytics Opt-out add-on.

Retention

GA4 event-level and user-level data is retained for a maximum of 14 months, after which Google automatically deletes it. Aggregated reports (page views, country totals, etc.) may be kept longer.

No advertising trackers

We do not use third-party advertising networks, retargeting pixels (Meta, TikTok, etc.), or cross-site behavioural trackers.

6. Email communications

We use double opt-in for our newsletter — you must confirm your email before we send marketing emails. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link, and we honour unsubscribe requests immediately.

7. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time, after which we will remove your personal data, except where we are required to retain it for legal reasons.

8. Your rights

  • Access, correct, or delete your personal data.
  • Withdraw consent for marketing emails at any time.
  • Request an export of your data.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9. Children

Zen Parenting World is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

10. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit, secure authentication, and access controls on our database. No system is 100% secure, but we work hard to protect your data.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on the site or by email.
